Revascularization – an Overview

چکیده
An immature tooth with early irreversible pulp involvement presents with thin divergent or parallel dentinal walls. This situation creates clinical challenges in disinfection, and as a result, affects the long-term outcome of the treatment. Traditionally, calcium hydroxide has been used as the intra-canal medicament in apexification procedures. However, because of its high pH it will cause necrosis of tissues that can potentially differentiate into new pulp. Moreover, even if rendered successful, apexification procedures will leave a short root with thin dentinal walls with a high risk of root fracture. Revascularization of a pulp-like tissue for dentine deposition will allow further development of the root and dentinal structure with a better long-term prognosis. The regenerative potential of dental pulp, particularly in immature teeth, has been considered extremely limited. However, improved understanding of pulpal inflammation and repair and improved dental materials and technologies make vital pulp therapy a viable alternative to root canal treatment. Revascularization could be effective for managing immature permanent teeth with apical periodontitis. This article explores our knowledge in this regard and the future potential of saving or even regenerating the pulp as a routine dental procedure. Revascularization procedure in an open apex tooth with external root resorption: A case report
External inflammatory root resorption (EIR) represents a challenge in endodontic practice. EIR commonly occurs after dental trauma that results in periodontal ligament injury, pulp necrosis and subsequent infection. Treatment of EIR is based on disinfecting the root canal system through chemomechanical procedures and then filling it with calcium hydroxide or triple antibiotic paste. Dental tra...

An aging atherosclerosis-prone population has led to an increase in the prevalence of atherosclerotic renovascular disease (ARVD). Medical management of this disease, as with other atherosclerotic conditions, has improved over the past decade. Despite the widespread availability of endovascular revascularization procedures, there is inconsistent evidence of benefit in ARVD and no clear consensu...
متن کاملRevascularization Treatment of Immature Permanent Tooth with Necrotic Pulp: A Case Report
Introduction: Revascularization is the newest treatment proposed for an immature permanent tooth with necrotic pulp. Revascularization is defined as a treatment process with a biological base which is aimed at replacing the lost structures and the continued development of roots. Case presentation: Patient was an eight-year-old child with the history of trauma to the maxillary anterior region. ...

متن کاملNovel drug-eluting stents in the treatment of de novo coronary lesions
Due to safety concerns in recent years, much effort has been devoted to improving the outcomes associated with drug-eluting stents (DESs). This review summarizes the current status of methodological and technical achievements reported in second-generation DES. Novel stents are described based on the component (the platform, the polymer, and the drug) that has undergone the most significant chan...
